Helen Jean Jacobs

89, passed away to join her Savior on July 10, 2013, her birthday. Helen is preceded in death by Russell, her husband of 67 years, parents Mary and John Sandberg, and brother Edward. She is survived by three children Alan Jacobs (Sally), Jeanie Jacobs (Tom Risdal) and Mary Ann Hartzog (Jim), two granddaughters Erika and Sonja, great-grandson Nils, and sister Averil Cooper of Columbia, Missouri. Helen and Russell moved to Arizona in 1957. She graduated from Arizona State University with honors at age 51. Helen was very proud of her Scandinavian heritage and kept in contact with her Norwegian and Swedish relatives. She loved learning, travel, and her church. Visitation Friday, July 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Memorial Service at Christ Church-Lutheran, 3901 E. Indian School Rd at 10:30 am,  Saturday, July 13.
