James Paul Moriarty, “Jim”, 60, a resident of the Gaston community, died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at OHSU in Portland.  Private Cremation Rites, Hoyt Crematory, Forest Grove, Oregon.

JAMES PAUL MORIARITY was born February 5, 1963, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of the late Philip Moriarity and Diane (Parent) Schardt. He was raised and received his education in the Phoenix community. He graduated high school in 1981 and later attended Portland Community College, Rock Creek.

Jim and Carol met the summer of 1981 and married December 5, 1983. They resided in Aloha from 1981 until 1994 when they moved to the country in Gaston, Oregon. Jim dreamed of replacing the old doublewide with a “real” house and in 2004 that dream came true. Together they designed the new house that Jim built. He was so proud of this achievement.

Jim was a master carpenter, having owned and operated Jim’s Custom Work for 35 years. He was a member of Oregon NORML.

Among his special interests, Jim was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan and enjoyed caring for his garden, and small livestock through the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Moriarity. Survivors include: his wife, Carol Breen of Gaston, Oregon; his mother, Diane Schardt of Scottsdale, Arizona, his older brother Dan “Phil” Moriarity and wife DeeDee of Peoria, Arizona, and younger brother Don Moriarity and wife Jenny of Indio, California. Also surviving are his niece Taylor and his nephews Ryan, Carter and Landon.
