In Loving Memory of Jay Tenison, Jr.,
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jay Allen Tenison, Jr., who left this world too soon at the age of 40 after a courageous battle with gastric cancer. He departed on January 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Jay was a devoted father to his two young children, a loving son to his parents, and a cherished sibling to his older sisters and younger brother. His untimely departure leaves a void that can never be filled, as he touched the lives of those around him with his kindness, generosity, and warm spirit.
Born on December 12, 1983, Jay was a beacon of strength and resilience throughout his life. His unwavering determination was evident in the face of his health struggles, and he faced each challenge with grace and bravery. Jay found solace in the simple joys of life, cherishing moments spent with his family and friends.
As a father, Jay leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance. His children, Emily, and Hazel will forever carry the lessons he imparted, and his memory will live on in the values he instilled in them. His parents, Jay and Joellen Tenison, older sisters, Jodi Harrington and Jennifer Tenison, and younger brother Joseph Tenison, are left with memories of a caring son and a supportive sibling whose presence brightened their lives.
Jay had a passion for Star Wars, science, and engineering, and his enthusiasm was infectious. He served in the Army for four years followed by enlisting in the Army Reserves for five years. Jay earned a Master’s in Engineering from Arizona State University and proudly worked in the engineering field. Whether it was spending time with loved ones, pursuing his interests, or offering a helping hand, he approached life with a genuine and compassionate heart. To know Jay was to love, and be loved by, Jay.
In this time of grief, we find solace in the memories we shared with Jay. His laughter, warmth, and love will forever echo in our hearts. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the profound impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service to honor and remember Jay will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home in Phoenix, Arizona at 2:00 pm. We invite friends and family to join us in paying tribute to a remarkable individual who left us too soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Arizona Science Center as Jay held a deep commitment to fostering curiosity of all minds.
May Jay find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
With heartfelt condolences,
The Family of Jay Tenison, Jr.
