Moira Ellen Jennett

The world lost a loving, tender and innocent soul Saturday, May 5, 2012, when Moira Ellen Jennett joined her parents (Bettie and Raymond Jennett), brother (Hugh Joseph Jennett) and nephew (Joey Winters) in eternal life. Born August 13, 1958 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, Moira was a life-long resident of the Valley, who frequently visited the family farm and relatives in Iowa. Fondly known as “Aunt Mo Mo” by her many nieces and nephews, Moira showed her family and friends the beauty of life-long childhood by demonstrating how to be a kind and sweet person. She had a passion for puppies, children and remembering the birthdays of loved ones, always placing others’ happiness above her own. Compassion and loyal friendship are among her many admirable qualities. Moira is a graduate of Perry Rehabilitation Institute in Phoenix and held a variety of jobs over the years at sheltered workshops throughout the Valley. She participated in retreats and other activities for individuals with special needs in the Diocese of Phoenix. Most recently she was a resident of the Arizona Foundation for the Handicapped Thunderbird Group Home, where she enjoyed being the life of the party—usually dressed in her signature color purple (which she loved, long before wearing purple became a trend). Moira is survived by two brothers (Ray Jennett, Jr. and Niles Jennett), five sisters (Mimi Winters, Mary Wauson, Melanie Martyn, Marie Reising and Muriel Nieves), loving and devoted nieces and nephews, many great nephews and nieces, godchildren and an abundance of friends. Her legacy is one of love and understanding. Moira will be missed. Visitation is scheduled from 11am until 2pm Thursday, May 10, at Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Rd., Phoenix. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Friday, May 11, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 North 24th Street, Phoenix. Burial is private. A memorial fund has been set up in Moira Jennett’s name at Perry Rehabilitation Center, 3146 E. Windsor, Phoenix, AZ 85008. Rest in peace, Moira, with the angels to guard you.
