Jerry was born in Bonn Grand Rapids, MI to parents Katherine Harrington and Wayne Seppanen. They moved to Iron River, Michigan (upper peninsula) when he was 2.
Jerry lettered in 3 sports while attending Iron River High School. At 17 he joined the Air Force where he was a Classification Specialist. After 4 years in the Air Force he opened his own private investigative agency in Rockford, Illinois. In 1969 he met and married Phyllis Weigel and they moved to Arizona. They had 2 children, Kelly and Wayne. Jerry and Phyllis then opened J.P. Lining Co. (a wholesale textile comp) which they operated for over 38 years.
Jerry has always been a big sports fan both with ASU and Notre Dame. He had a dynamic personality and people were caught up in his enthusiasm.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughter Kelly and grandchildren Gracie and D.J.
He was preceded in death by his son Wayne three years ago.
It seemed like Jerry could go on forever but two years ago he was diagnosed with prostrate cancer which quickly spread to his bones. He fought a valiant fight for as long as he could.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix.
A buffet will follow at 6:00 P.M. at Big Daddy's Sports Lounge, 10618 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85020.
