Joanna A. Barbieri

Joanna passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2025. She was born in Highland Park, MI, and came to Arizona when she was four and a half. Her parents were John and Olga Barbieri. Joanna was predeceased by her parents and brother, David. She is survived by her sister, Joyce, and her daughter, Alicia.

Joanna attended Gerard High School from which she graduated in 1969. She attended ASU and graduated with a degree in Mass Communications Radio TV. During her life she worked as a writer, a nanny, and a tutor.

Joanna loved people and animals. She had a variety of pets throughout her life and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a kind and loving soul who reached out to others and encouraged them. She always tried to help others. Joanna had a wonderful sense of humor and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 pm with the rosary at 5:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85018. The funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix AZ 85018. Burial will be following the Mass at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Resurrection Mausoleum, 2033 N. 48th St, Phoenix AZ 85008.
