In loving memory of Jolene Ann Taris (Smith), a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Jolene was born in Anniston Alabama to Chester Huey and Nettie Lee Smith on November 19, 1942. She had a wonderful happy life, enjoying live music, dancing, admiring the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
In 1966 Jolene and Lewis moved from Alabama to Arizona to continue raising their family in the sunshine they loved so much.
Along with participating in family events, Jolene enjoyed being involved with Red Hat Society, Elk’s and the Moose Lodge. Many long-lasting friendships were made. You couldn’t take her anywhere without running into a friend.
Everybody enjoyed her southern style cooking, from biscuits & gravy, egg (bacon) pancakes to apple strudel and poppyseed roll for the holidays.
Jolene is survived by her children Toni (Dennis) Lamb, Linda (Michael) Goetz, Lewis Taris Jr., Karen (Steve) Glotzer, Matthew (Andrea) Taris, Patricia McGlone, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and brother Kenneth (Linda) Smith.
Jolene was preceded in death by her husband Lewis (Sonny) Taris, Sr., daughter Cheryl Lynn Jones, her parents and brother Wayne Smith.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 with a visitation to begin at 11 A.M. and the funeral service starting at 12 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix.
Jolene was loved dearly and will be missed by many, near and far.
