June Helena Anderson

June 5, 1930 — February 6, 2025

Paradise Valley

June Anderson, born Helena June Ridgeway, 94, of Phoenix, Arizona, transitioned to heaven on February 6, 2025. Born to loving parents Tom and Mabel Ridgeway, June lived a beautiful childhood with her sister Jean and her two brothers, Charles and Tommy. At age 15, June's life would forever be changed when she asked a handsome Navy man, who was on shore leave from WWII, to roller skate with her. It was love at first sight and in 1948, June and her beloved Leonard were married. Her husband adored her and together, they taught their children Len, Chris, Matt, and Jon, integrity, loyalty and compassion, giving them the confidence and skills necessary to lead full and successful lives.

Somewhat of a precocious and free spirited child, June often remarked how life changed for her when she married and had her children. Although completely devoted to her husband and family, June managed to continue her education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Counseling from Arizona State University. She was widely known throughout the Valley for her work as Chair of the Counseling Department at Coronado High School and for her implementation of various programs throughout the Scottsdale School District. June was a fierce defender of disadvantaged people. Her volunteer work as a counselor for a local food bank along with her work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate reflected her immense compassion for other less fortunate.

June's courage to battle and overcome life's challenges has been inspirational to all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She demonstrated true love for each of them and, often commented on how proud she was of her family. When her time came, June carried herself with dignity, strength, and was full of love for those that went before her. Although Heaven just gained a beautiful soul, June will be dearly missed by those who survive her.
