Karl T. Brandenberger, 71, of Phoenix, was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Helene Sledd and Jimmy Brandenberger on October 9, 1952. He died on July 17, 2024.

Karl’s parents met in Phoenix, where his mother was a well-known and respected nurse for more than 40 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Karl graduated from Gerard Catholic High School in 1970 and joined the Phoenix Police Department in 1973. He retired from the Phoenix Police Department after 23 years and went on to serve close to another 20 years as an investigator with the Offices of the Maricopa County and Federal Public Defender.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sister Claudia McDowell, children Mary, Laura (Tony), and Thomas (Anna), and grandchildren Taylor and Ethan. He was married to Patricia Brandenberger for 25 years, and to Carolyn Brandenberger for 20 years.

He was actively involved in Boy Scouts for many years and had taken up teaching archery in recent years.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Following the service, the family has asked attendees to raise a glass at Ohso Brewery at 4700 E. Indian School Road.
