Songgi David Kim

April 24,1980 – October 19, 2021

Songgi lost his courageous battle with brain cancer on Tuesday, October 19th at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. With him at the time of his passing was his wife Amy, his parents Chang-Hee and Hai-Sun, and Amy’s mother, Terri. Songgi grew up in Globe, AZ. After graduating from Globe High School, he relocated to the Phoenix area where he met Amy. They were married in July of 2005, started their family in 2010 and over the next six years had three boys. Songgi completed a BS degree from the University of Phoenix and has worked in the health care industry as a business analyst for the past 15 years. Songgi has always gone above and beyond to be a devoted husband, loving father and a true family inspiration to all he met. Songgi’s personal touch will be remembered and felt for generations. As an avid supporter of Your Neighborhood Youth Soccer League, you could count on him to be running the sidelines, encouraging and working with all of the teams. Songgi was passionate about fitness, specifically weight lifting and personal well being. He was always inspiring others to be stronger, healthier and more resilient. Be positive! Songgi was also a faithful supporter of many local businesses in the North 32nd Street Neighborhood. He was the smiling face, the helping hand and the one interested in what others could accomplish. He will be missed!

Songgi is survived by his wife Amy and their three sons, Desmond, Landon and Callan, and his parents, Chang-Hee and Hai-Sun Kim of Globe, AZ.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 3:00pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd, in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is requesting donations be made in Songgi Kim’s name to Mayo Clinic in Arizona to support Cancer Care and Neurosurgery. Donations can be made online at
