Ellen Regina (Geni) Knapp the last surviving member of a pioneer Arizona family died on September 4, 2016 in Phoenix. She was the youngest child of the seven surviving children of Christopher and Mary Ellen (Pettid) Dalton. She was born in Phoenix on August 30, 1920 and grew up on the family farm at 36

Street and Oak. After graduating from St. Mary’s Grammar School and high school she began her career at Washington National Insurance Company and retired from the Arizona Department of Revenue. In her 60’s she married Herbert Knapp and shared 10 wonderful years with him before his passing. Geni was deeply rooted in her Irish culture and considered a trip to Ireland with her nieces and nephews a high light of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband. 15 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews survive her. Visitation will start at 5pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3
