Vincent Edward Knittel

Having lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 50 of his 96 years, went to Heaven Tuesday morning, 8.22.2016. He passed peacefully, his sons sitting with when he decided it was a safe time to leave. Vince and his 4 brothers and sisters grew up in St. Louis, MO, where they all attended Catholic and Jesuit Schools. Dad had the dubious honor of being the oldest family member ever, as he had traced his family, pre-Internet search engines, back into the 1850’s. He and his brothers all earned Engineering degrees, with Dad serving in the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, later with public electrical utility companies designing power plants and distribution grids. Dad was an athlete, soccer and baseball as a child, tennis, bowling, golf and walking as an adult. Dad was married for 40+ years with Mary Agnes and has 4 children Marilyn, Pete, Tim and Bob. He really enjoyed playing with and teaching his numerous grand and great-grandchildren. He had a knack of making people of all ages smile, listening to his stories and subtle observations. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Chapel, 4701 N. Central Ave., Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
