Leonard Brooks III

Leonard “Len” Brooks III, born July 19, 1959, passed away on March 17, 2025 in Phoenix, AZ. Len is survived by his wife, Janice (Engle) Brooks, and his daughters Kristen, Katherine “Kate”, and Jillian Brooks, and Jillian’s husband, Kevin Bailey. He is the son of the late Leonard Brooks, Jr. and Katherine Mary (Kozonek) Brooks.

Len was born and raised in Bronxville, NY. After graduating from The College of William & Mary (’81) and The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (’85), Len enjoyed a long and successful career in investment banking on Wall Street. He loved the challenges of dealmaking and the joy of forming strong relationships. After retiring from Wall Street, Len served on multiple boards and actively participated in many business ventures, including serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SubAir Systems. He was incredibly proud of his professional accomplishments but remained a humble example to all.

Married to Janice for nearly 40 years, Len was a truly devoted husband and a very proud father to his three daughters. Although an avid golfer, Len always made time for his family, taking an active interest in their hobbies, including snowboarding, hiking, scuba diving, travel, board games, and most recently, pilates. Always ready to jump in and get involved, Len served in many leadership roles throughout his life. He was a role model to many, a mentor, a good friend, a supporter of women’s rights, an enthusiastic coworker, a loving, dedicated husband, and a proud father. He was also the adored “Spare Human” to his beloved cat Pudge.
