90, beautiful daughter to Carlos and Rosa Pacheco, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Sunday, June 19, 2011. She is survived by her husband Jose M. Leyva, brother Marcos Pacheco, sister Margaret Blanco; daughters, Rose Soto (Charles) Dolores Smales, and sons, Jesus Valenzuela, Charlie Valenzuela (Dolores) and Ruben Valenzuela (Maria); eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Laura was born April 30, 1921, in Phoenix, Arizona and as a young mother was devoted to raising her children, nurturing them with patience and so much love. Laura was generous and cared deeply for her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed nothing more than having her family come together at her home for every holiday occasion. Laura also enjoyed traveling abroad and took many trips with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included raising birds and creating beautiful and meticulous pieces of embroidery and quilting that we will cherish forever. We will always keep memories of our Mom “Little Nana” close to our hearts and she will be missed forever. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, with a Rosary at 7pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am, Thursday, June 23rd, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 North Central Avenue, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
