Rhea Linsenmeyer peacefully passed away at age 92 on November 26, 2011. A third generation Phoenician, Rhea witnessed Phoenix grow from a small town to the sixth largest city in the U.S. As a child, she lived in a house that her father built. As an adult, she worked as a secretary for Phoenix’s only movie theater, the Orpheum, and shopped in its first shopping center, Park Central. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School and enjoyed many reunions with fellow classmates. She was married to Howard Linsenmeyer, now deceased, for over 50 years. As an avid sports fan, her TV rarely wandered to non- sports channels. And until she turned 60, she was an excellent and competitive tennis player. Her interests also included: volunteering for others with: St. Joseph Hospital’s Auxiliary, the Girl Scouts, St. Gregory Elementary School and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She will be missed and remembered by her daughters: Cheryl Smith and Jeanine Linsenmeyer; her grandchildren Ben Linsenmeyer and Shannon Smith Sams (Brian). Her sister Melba Provence Ortman; sister-in-law Bertha (Tiny) Lutfy, nieces and nephews: Ben Provence (Brenda), Roy Provence (Sandy) Pat Blair (Craig), Fred Provence, (Claudia), Jim Hebets (Carol,), Kathy Bowen, Dick Hebets (Gail), and Bruce Hebets (Karen). Other related family include: Suzy Hausner, John Hausner, Glenn A. Smith Jr., Doris Doss and Bertha Bower, a life-long friend. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels Conventual Church at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale.
