Maria Anita Gurule

Maria Gurule, 87 of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025. Born in McAllen, Texas, Maria moved to Arizona in 1960, where she built a life alongside her husband, Ramon Gurule, with whom she spent many years working in the flooring business. She was preceded in death by Ramon in 2016, and leaves behind her beloved son, Gilbert Gomez of Phoenix.

Maria was known for her joyful spirit, her warm and infectious smile, and her gift for listening with patience and heart. She was always good for her witty remarks and her honest opinion. She was a woman of deep Catholic faith, devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Over the years, she was an active member of many church organizations including Legion of Mary and the Schoenstatt group, where she found purpose, community, and spiritual connection.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church located at 2312 E. Campbell Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona 85016, on Thursday, April 24th at 10 A.M. Visitation will take place from 9 - 10 A.M. with a Rosary recitation at 9:30 A.M. Mass will begin at 10 A.M. Interment to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
