September 20, 1930 — December 31, 2024

Waterford

Marion Patricia Maloney Fredrickson (Pat to those who knew her well), born in Waterbury, Connecticut on September 20, 1930, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to Phoenix, where she would spend most of her life. She graduated from North High School and went on to earn a Master's in Education from Arizona State University. Afterward, she taught second grade for several years, leaving her career to fully dedicate herself to her family.

It was on a blind date that Pat met her beloved husband, Stan. Their connection was instant, and just three months later, they married. They began their family shortly after, raising three children together. Pat’s dedication as a mother was unmatched. She embraced the role fully, spending her time as a leader in Cub Scouts and Brownies, attending her children’s countless baseball and softball games, piano lessons, and gymnastics meets.

In 1994, after Stan’s retirement, they built their dream home in Prescott, and they filled it to bursting with their children and grandchildren every Christmas and Thanksgiving, as well as many weekends in between. Fourth of July celebrations often doubled as family reunions of the extended Fredrickson clan. All these gatherings were fueled by Pat’s gourmet cooking.

Following Stan’s passing in 2000, Pat moved to a smaller home in Prescott but remained an active member of her community, volunteering at her church. Sharlot Hall Museum, playing Mexican Train with friends in the clubhouse, doing water aerobics in the community pool, and walking her beloved dogs Lily and Hannah.

In 2021, Pat moved back to Phoenix to be closer to her family. She enjoyed playing trivia and attending happy hour at La Siena, and rarely missed a Sunday dinner at Jerry and Amy’s house with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making the most of her time surrounded by loved ones.

Pat is survived by two of her three children: Matt (Pam) Fredrickson of Bisbee, AZ, and Amy (Jerry) Walker of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of joy in her life. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Fredrickson, and her daughter, Kristi Fredrickson.

Mom’s kindness, strength, and love will be deeply missed, as will her sense of humor, which she never lost. On the day before her passing, Mom was telling stories that made us all laugh, including the hospice staff. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the home of Morgan and Tyler Krauch, located at 8014 N. 8th Ave, Phoenix, AZ. The service will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and time for visitation.
