Marjorie "Marge" Lee Kussrow

December 5, 1938 — February 12, 2025

Peoria

Today we celebrate the lives of Marjorie (“Marge”) Lee Kussrow (nee Fischer), 86, and Dale Arnold Kussrow, 90, of Peoria, AZ. While their passing together on February 12, 2025 was sudden and tragic, they each lived rich and full lives, cheerful, energetic and delightful until the last.

Marjorie and Dale each spent most of their lives in Wisconsin. She grew up in Milwaukee and raised her family in nearby St. Francis. Dale spent most of his youth growing up in Central Wisconsin on farms around Cherokee, Colby, and Medford. Marge spent her working life in the auto industry and developed a keen expertise in auto parts and repair. Dale enlisted into the Navy right after graduation, where he served on two destroyers the U.S.S. Maddox and the U.S.S. Duncan.

After retiring in Arizona, they were active members of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church where Marjorie sang in the choir and served frequently in the business office. The Sun Air Estates Community Center was another frequent haunt where Marjorie was a member of the board, and she organized card games, ensured the coffee was made, played dominos and socialized. Throughout their lives they were both avid card players; Marge was a mean hand at pool and they enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. When living in Wisconsin, they both enjoyed boating. Dale also enjoyed pencil drawing, watercolor painting and gardening.

Marge was preceded in death by three husbands: Robert Hafert (d. 1981); Dick Hanson (d.1988); and Ray Sliwinski( d. 2004). She also survived her parents, Irma Schmitz (nee Hagedorn) and Francis Michael Fischer, four brothers, Frank Fischer, Robert (“Bobby”) Fischer, Gene Schwulst, and Gilbert Schwulst and one sister, Lila Roberts. Marge is remembered warmly by her sisters Patricia (“Patty”) Wordon (Tom), Georgia Daly and Margaret Jahnz (Tom) and brothers Gary Schwulst (Jill), William (“Bill”) Fischer and Peter Fischer (Mady). Marge was the mother (a.k.a, drill sergeant) of a rowdy bunch of boys, Michael Hafert (Debbie), Dennis Hafert and Jeffrey Hafert (Cindy) who, now adults with families of their own, mourn her passing. Eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews fondly recall Marge’s nurturing and playful soul. She will be missed by many more cousins, friends and colleagues.

Dale is survived by is sons Kevin and Brian Kussrow, step children, Michelle Lucchesi, Claudine Salamone, Reid Kahrs, Mike, Dennis, and Jeff Hafert, granddaughters Emilie, Bailey and Kayla, Sister Janice, sister-in-law Diane and nephew, Darron Kussrow. He was loved and will be missed by many friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10:30 am with a light lunch after. It will be held at Mt Zion Luther Church, 8902 W Deer Valley Rd, Peoria AZ. Interment for Marge will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Oak Creek, WI, and Dale will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
