Mary A. Barrett, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by so much love on March 5, 2024. She was predeceased in death by her husband of 26 years, Philip G. Barrett, her mother Helen Mendenhall, her sister Florence Mendoza, her brother Bob Webel, and her brother in law Patrick J. Barrett. Mary was born on July 17, 1942 in Chicago, IL at Cook County Hospital.
After marrying Phil in 1967, they were relocated to the east coast, where their two children were born. They moved back to the Chicago area to continue raising their children. They moved to AZ in 1987 after Phil’s retirement from UPS. After his passing, Mary continued to live her summers at Turtle Lake in Delavan, WI and her winters in Arizona. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends no matter her location. Her loves included baking and cooking, shopping, researching genealogy, playing her favorite card game (3-13), art shows, traveling, movies, music, and watching sports.
Mary is survived by her son Philip Jr., his wife Tanya, and their children, and her daughter, Carrie. Mary was so proud of being a grandmother to Philip III, Shannan, and Caitlin.
Mary’s warmth and love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the hearts of all that knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her dearly.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 9-11A.M., with prayer service at 11:00A.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix, AZ. Burial to follow at St Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street Phoenix.
