Mary Hiralez

Mary Hiralez, loving wife, wonderful mother and proud grandmother passed away on September 2, 2024 at the age of 90. Mary was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 21, 1933 to Rafael and Maria Hernandez . Mary was the second oldest out of seven children. Mary is survived by her husband John, her sons Michael and Mark, her daughter Roberta and her grandson Daniel. John and Mary were married 74 years and had 6 children. Mary was preceded in death by her sons Johnny, Robert and Ruben. Mary loved all her grandchildren including Ruben, Sarah, Donovan, Dominic, Christopher and Brianna. 

Mary retired from the Creighton School District and worked at Loma Linda School for over 20 years. Caring, teaching and loving each and every child she met. She also taught religious education classes and sang in the choir at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to music, singing, dancing, traveling, watching the Hallmark Channel and taking care of all her loved ones. Mary enjoyed life, people, plants and nature. She would often have long conversations with people she didn’t know when she was out shopping. She loved telling stories of her family and friends. She was generous to a fault, loved the holidays and would always try to feed you when you came to the house. She was our mom and we loved her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 8 - 10 a.m. with a scripture service to begin at 10 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.
