Phyllis Margaret Mathews

Mathews, Phyllis Margaret, 93, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on May 31 2018. Phyllis was born January 20, 1925 in Livermore, Iowa to parents Terese Chandler and Clarence Gunderson. She moved to Arizona in 1962 from Minneapolis, Minnesota with her husband and family and has lived in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area since then. Phyllis was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. After graduating college from University of Minnesota she started her career as a Kindergarten teacher. She always had a knack for working with children and loved being around them. Phyllis is survived by her son Mark Mathews MD, daughter Karen Meyer (David), and grandchildren Chris LaVoy, Sean, Nikolas and Chase Mathews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Robert (Bob) Mathews and her son Brian Mathews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Shepherd of the Hills Congregational Church, 5524 E. Lafayette Blvd., Phoenix, AZ.
