Margaret Mccarville

On February 8, 2022 our beloved mother Margaret McCarville went to heaven peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95. Margaret was born on 1-13-27 in Fort Dodge Iowa and grew up on the farm with parents John Yetmar and Margaret Burke. She had five brothers and sisters- Joanne, Charles, Arlene, Jean and James. In 1952 she moved to Phoenix Arizona to start a family. She raised 8 children- Patrick, Michele, Tom, Zita, Mark, Frank, Annie and Bill. There are 20 grandchildren-Patrick, Bobby, Shane, Rachel, Tommie, Timothy, Lauren, Christina, John, Nicholas, Ashley, Jamison, Trevor, Michael, Lindy, Melissa, Joe, Kevin, Mathew and Megan. There are 25 great grandchildren-Emily, Stetson, Aaron, Gracie, Colton, Elle, Patrick, Roan, Natalie, Liam, Dan, John, Bertha, Danial, Emma, Ella, Madison, Tadeusz, Lukasz, Emelia, Landon, Sage, Orion, Teague and Ithaca. There is one great-great grandchild, Kenly.

Margaret was one of the first parishioners at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Phoenix. She was one of the original founders of Sodality and worked tirelessly to support this charitable organization throughout her life. She helped organize the annual church rummage sale to benefit various charities. She insisted that all of her children receive a Catholic school education and was proud that they all grew up to be successful, honest and productive members of society. Her love for her children extended to their friends and they referred to her as “mom” when they came over to visit.

Margaret was a skilled baker and was considered an artist with her cake baking skills. Over the years she made beautiful wedding cakes with multiple tiers and fountains for parishioners and family. She loved to paint desert and seaside landscapes, many of which still hang in family and friend’s homes. Margaret had a green thumb. Her home was always surrounded with beautiful and exotic plants. She loved the hummingbirds that would visit her garden.

Margaret was known for her great sense of humor that often had no filter. She said exactly what she was thinking and often turned faces around her a deep shade of red. Margaret greeted everyone cheerfully even at the end of her days and brought love and joy to everyone that she met. She will be deeply missed by all.

Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E. Campbell Avenue, Phoenix. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com
