Myra L. McGuire, 90, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. Myra is survived by 5 children: John (Dorsa) McGuire, Patrick (Linda) McGuire, Maggi (Mark) White, Thomas McGuire and Michael (Susan) McGuire. She also leaves 10 grandchildren; Molly (McGuire) McCurdy, Kevin, Brian and Sean McGuire, Jesse Pugh, Kathy (McGuire) Auman, Brenna McGuire, Nick Ross, Christopher and Erin McGuire, 8 great grandchildren; James and Wil McGuire, Nora McGuire, Andrew and Kaitlyn McGuire, Reagan and Jack McCurdy, Kate and Joseph Auman and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John McGuire, granddaughter Jamie Pugh and grandson Joseph McGuire. Myra was born Myra Ludwig on December 31, 1926 and raised in Woodsfield, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Home Economics and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Following graduation, she married husband John and raised 5 children. While raising their family, John and Myra lived in New Jersey, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York State and Ohio. In the early 70’s Myra went to work for the New York State Cooperative Extension Services as a training organizer. While still in New York and later part time in Florida she became busy and successful with real estate sales. She continued to be a dedicated fan and supporter of Ohio State University throughout her life. She was an avid gardener and loved her lakefront cabin in southeastern Ohio where she cultivated and grew a wide variety of beautiful plants and trees among small ponds and waterfalls. Myra was a world traveler with trips all over the USA, Spain, South Korea and the Virgin Islands Hawaii and Alaska. She had a knack for always having some plan in the works for travel or family gatherings! Over the past ten years, even with declining health, she still made trips from Ohio to Arizona, New Hampshire and North Carolina. In January 2015, she left Cincinnati and moved into an assisted living facility in Mesa, Arizona. Visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 3PM – 5PM with a Rosary at 4:30 PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM, Friday, July 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7655 E. Main Street, Scottsdale, Arizona. Burial will be in Woodsfield, Ohio on July 28, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Claret Retreat Center, 4633 North 54th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85018.
