Rosemary Dolores Hayes McNeil of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2018 at the age of 98 years. Dolores was born in Carrington, North Dakota to James and Deborah Kinnane Brady on July 7, 1920. She married Douglas Wayne Hayes in April 1946. Doug’s Army career took their family to Germany, Kentucky, Texas, Washington, DC, Indiana and Belgium before settling in West Springfield, VA. She took great joy in hosting lavish dinner parties for fellow military friends and families. Doug was serving as Chief of the Appointments Branch, Office of the Adjutant General at the time of his passing in November of 1964. After Doug’s death, Dolores built a successful real estate career with Panorama Real Estate in Northern Virginia, just as the area was being developed. Her strong work ethic, discipline and leadership helped her earn a Lifetime Membership to the Million Dollar Sales Club. Many years later she would meet Robert McNeil and they married in Nov of 1982. Dolores and Bob made their home in Phoenix, Arizona. Together they enjoyed traveling to many beautiful places, spending time with family and dear friends as well as hosting many parties on their pool patio. She will be remembered for her loving devotion and loyalty to her family and friends and her unending faith in God.
Dolores is survived by daughter, Mary Michele “Mike” Hayes of Hilton Head, SC, son Timothy Patrick (Carol) Hayes of Phoenix, daughter in-law Judy Hayes of Hilton Head, SC and son Damian Brady (Andrea) Hayes of Bluffton, SC. stepdaughters Laurie (Al) Schuler of Scottsdale, AZ, Holly McNeil of Buckeye, AZ, Molly (John) Johnston of Jacksonhole, WY., stepson Scott (Charlene) McNeil of San Jose, CA, grandchildren: Luke, Joshua (Lisa) and Dawn Jordan, Shawn (Bryan) Luedtke. Travis and Ashton Hayes, Renee Poprocki. Tavia (Kevin) Osterstock, Tiffany (Greg) Turley. Brooke (Evan) Christian, Alicia, Skylar and Evan Hayes,
step grandchildren Dawn Caballero, Tim and Rick McNeil, Samantha, Erin, Joe and Amanda Johnston, great-grandchildren Tayden Rinaldi, Zachary Luedtke, Jaden and Marcus Jordan, Kai and Jett Liska, Maddox and Ryder Turley, Brinkley and Easton Christian. Also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Longfellow and Suzanne (Don) Byars as well as many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband US Army Colonel Douglas W. Hayes, brother James Brady, sister Mary Jean Arsdale, husband Robert Alexander McNeil, son Kevin Victor Hayes and grandson Jon Christian Jordan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Dolores on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at The Conventual Church of Our Lady of the Angels @ The Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, Arizona. Burial will follow at St Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix. A reception will follow at her home.
