Carole Jean Winiker Muir, born February 5, 1938, in Mojave, CA to James H. Winiker and Marietta Ritchie Winiker.
Carole Muir passed peacefully at home on March 25, 2021 with beloved husband John Muir at her side.
Carole’s earliest years were lived in the Philippine Islands where she and her family spent three years as Prisoners of War in the city of Manila.
After returning to the states, she grew up and attended school in Ajo, AZ. Carole and husband John lived in Phoenix with an intervening 2 years in Australia. On March 2, 2021 they celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Carole raised four children: James (Sonya), Charles (Franny), Vanessa (Benno) and John. She leaves eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her brother Dick Winiker.
Carole loved to laugh, knew no strangers, had a gift for creating friendships, and was caring and supportive to family and friends, many of whom she met during her years in the front office at Creighton Elementary School and at Kitchen Classics.
She created a home where many gathered, and everyone was welcomed to stay for a glass of wine or dinner. She also made friends everywhere she went, she made many long-time friends of the workers at her favorite stores and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh or smile to brighten their days.
Carole was both rock and glue for her family and like all loved sisters, wives, and mothers will be sorely missed.
No services are planned. Memorial to be held at a later date.
