Amada Muller

A proud Arizona native of 91 years, passed away peacefully among her family on June 9, 2011. Amada was born in Douglas, Arizona on September 13, 1919, to Ramon and Paula Muller and was the eldest of five children. Her life was defined by her dedication to her parent’s who preceded her in death and to her many nieces and nephews to whom she was fiercely loyal to and protective of. A devoted catholic of strong faith she made her weekly walk to St. Anthony Church for mass every Sunday and where she volunteered until she was no longer able. Amada graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1937. After graduation she worked at Phoenix Linen Company. She was later hired by the State of Arizona, Department of Transportation Arizona Highway Magazine where she worked for 32 years and retired as a supervisor for the mailing and distribution department. One of her fondest memories was meeting De Grazia who contributed many prints and paintings to the magazine. Among the many joys in her life were her nieces and nephews whom she loved to bake favorite cookies, cakes and treats for birthdays and special occasions. She also loved to travel and she was able to visit Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Amada lived and grew up in the Grant Park neighborhood where she helped with neighborhood clean ups, participated in the area block watch and Phoenix Revitalization Corp. In addition to her parents, Amada is preceded in death by her brothers Humberto, Ramon and Jamie Muller and sister Alicia Chavez. She is survived by her nephew Humberto Muller (Vangie), niece Nenette Parra (Robert and Lauren), an Aunt Rose Moller and she loved and held dear many, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, great and great, great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, with a Rosary at 7pm, Friday, June 17, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am, Saturday, June 18, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 909 S. 1st Avenue, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
