Mary Murphy passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the age of 93 surrounded by her loving family. She and her husband, William “Bud” Murphy were happily married for 61 years and the proud parents of 10 children.
Mary was a woman of many talents and interests and was gifted with a beautiful voice. She developed a passion for music, reading, and the arts, which she shared with her children. Mary is best remembered for her endless generosity and kind-hearted personality. She was always able to light up the room with her warm and welcoming smile. As a woman of God Mary shaped the faith of her children and grandchildren by exemplifying a loyal devotion to God and Christian values.
As the matriarch of a large family, Mary was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed following the successes and accomplishments of her family. Mary will be remembered for her countless effort to be a light of Christ to the world in her roles as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Father Jack, Father Frank, Bernie, and Martin, husband: William and son: Peter. Mary is survived by her children: KJ, Patrick, Terry, Brian, Mike, Bill, Madalene, Maria and MD. Mary also leaves behind a legacy of 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be held Sunday, July 22 from 6-8 p.m. and a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home located on 4800 E. Indian School Phoenix, AZ. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 23 at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church located on 4715 N. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
