Bertha J. Myers

Bertha J. Myers departed this world on September 22, 2015. She was born June 3, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bertha was the product of the schools and Universities of Oklahoma and Kansas. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Langston University – Langston, Oklahoma and Master’s Degree from Wichita State University – Wichita, Kansas. Bertha was a retiree of the Phoenix Elementary School District. During her teaching career she held various leadership positions at both the state and national levels of the Education Association. After her retirement, Bertha became involved in community services. She was a member of both the Governor’s and State Attorney General’s “Council on Aging”. She also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Area Agency on Aging, Region One for several years. Bertha will be remembered for her dedication to public education. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a scholarship fund of your choice. Visitation will be held from 11:00am – 12:00pm with a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix.
