Lucinda “Cindy” L. Myers

Cindy Myers, 80, passed away on June 22, 2023 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born in Algona, Iowa, on April 19, 1943 to Kenneth V. Myers and Mary Adel Shear Myers. She grew up in Iowa, graduating from Muscatine High School in 1961 and continued her education by completing her Masters Degree at Arizona State University in Archeology. She was Director of the Phoenix Museum of History when she retired. She and her husband resided in Tempe, AZ until very recently when they relocated to Scottsdale, AZ.

She was very active in the P.E.O. Sisterhood organization for many years both in Iowa and in Arizona, serving as President of her local chapter in Tempe. In her retirement, she was an avid reader of history, archeology, and genealogy.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jay Smyth; children Brian and Amanda Cooley; Russell, Jeff and Jamie Smyth; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister Kathy Myers and brother William C. Myers.

Visitation is being on held Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85081. Burial will be at a later date in her family plot in Winfield, IA. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com.
