64 of Gilbert, Arizona died Friday, September 30, 2011 at his home surrounded by his wife and family. Born September 13, 1947 in Winslow, AZ was the son of Hank and Mary Louis Nagel. Joe moved to Farmington, NM as a teen he graduated from Farmington High School in 1965. Upon graduation he began working as a “roughneck” in the oil and gas industry in the Four Corners area. He spent several years as a Fireman for the Farmington Fire Department and eventually went to work for El Paso Natural Gas Company as a welder then painter. He established Joe Nagel’s Liquid Wallpaper and Painting Company in 1976 and was a very successful Painting Contractor in Northern NM throughout the 1970 and 80’s. After the death of his first wife Dorella Duran Nagel in 1982 he and his son Phil Nagel of Farmington moved to Mesa, AZ in 1985. He married Jo Lynn Bailey of Gilbert, AZ in 1987 and they eventually established Haul in all AZ Trucking Company”. Joe Nagel is preceded in death by his mother Mary Louise ‘Blackwell’ Nagel and father, Henry Michael Nagel, his older sister Charlotte ‘Nagel’ Paulmeyer and his first wife and mother of his two sons, Dorella ‘Duran’ Nagel, niece, Ann Sconza who passed away last year and great grandchild baby Israel Martinez. Surviving Joe, in addition to his wife Jo Lynn ‘Jody’ Nagel are his son Colonel Adrian Michael Nagel and daughter-in-law Michelle of Fort Detrick, MD with grandchildren Darian, Cheyenne and Dakota, son Phil Nagel and daughter-in-law Leslie of Farmington, NM with grandchildren Carissa King of Farmington, NM, Kara Martinez of Bloomingfield,NM, Brianna and Chelsea Bell of Tooele, UT and Dillon and Austin Nagel of Farmington, NM. His great grandchildren include Conner, Ezekiel, Payschence Sarenity, stepson Sean Martin and grandson Benjamin of Phoenix, AZ, sister Bette ‘Nagel’ Sollars and her husband Tom Sollars of Mesa, AZ, sister Sue Ann ‘Nagel’ Stone and her husband Charlie Stone of Albuquerque, NM and their son Josh and Jenn of Kansas City,MO, Joe’s sister Charlotts’s children, nieces Mary Orlando of Mesa, AZ and Ellie Wagner of MN and Joe’s sister Bette’s children, nephews Lance Cleveland of Gilbert, AZ, Shane cleveland of Chandler, AZ, Brandon Cleveland of San Tan Valley, AZ and Clinton Dusenberry of AUstin, TX.

Visitation will be held from 6-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be at 2pm, Thursday, October 6 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix. Joe, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Joe you will be truly missed and forever loved. “What matters more than length of life is where you’ll spend eternity: If you have placed your faith in Christ, Then Heaven’s glory you will see.”
