Valerie Nelson

Valerie Nelson, age 100, passed away May 1, 2014 at the Terraces in Phoenix, AZ.  Born on January 17, 1914 in New Jersey.  Daughter of Frank and Nellie Biese.  She was active at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and served as prefect of the Sodality there.  She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents and 4 siblings.  She is survived by her son John (Kay) Nelson and daughter Janice Pflugfelder, 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ.  Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the Casa Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale, AZ.  Donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
