Hazel F. Paisley passed away peacefully on January 17, 2011. Hazel Ruth Nims was born April 5, 1932 to Jack Nims and Olwen Ann Reese in Phoenix AZ. Olwen raised Hazel until 1937 when she married William Harvey Fraley, “the best Daddy in the world”. Hazel graduated from North High School Class of ‘50, where she caught the eye of Jeffrey G. Paisley, the new boy from Ohio, then attended Phoenix College. Hazel and Jeff married on June 24, 1951. Hazel and Jeff traveled the world, and operated then owned “Mexican Accent” and collected and restored antiques. Hazel approached all of life with kindness, high spirits, and enthusiasm. Hazel volunteered at many places including the Phoenix Junior Women’s Club, Diggers Garden Club, The Altar Guild at Christ Church of the Ascension, North High School Class 0f ’50 reunion committee and NHS Class of ’50 scholarship board. She joined the Junior League of Phoenix in 1967, served as Rummage Vice Chairman in 1969-1970, and worked rummage sales for decades-she loved it; she was proudly elected the JLP Sustainer of the year in 2005. Survivors include her children: Jeffrey Grant Paisley II and wife Mary, Wm. Corey Paisley and wife Nancy, daughter Ellen Ann Paisley and wife Celeste, grandsons Joshua Paisley and Kyle Paisley and great grandson Anthony Grant Paisley. Our family would like to thank the staff of Huger Mercy Living Center for the care and kindness shown to our mother.
Services will be held at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley at 11:30 on January 26, 2011; reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1275 Fairfax Rd., Salt Lake City, Utah 84103 or Hospice of the Valley, 3238 N, 16th St. Phoenix, AZ 85016-7107.
Hazel was an artistic, resourceful woman with a heart as big as the moon and a wonderful smile. She loved her family and she loved her friends. Please pass that love on to your family and friends.
