Paul James Andrade, 68, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, at the Maryland Gardens Care Center in Phoenix. He was born on September 15, 1955, in Phoenix to Arthur and Angela Andrade. Paul grew up in the historic Grant Park Barrio, which produced several patriots who served their country in all branches of the military.
Paul was also affectionately known as "Tall Paul" by all his friends in the barrio. He had a friendly personality and was always ready to help a friend in need. He was a proud US Army veteran who served over 7 years on active duty. He did a tour of Germany and his last duty assignment was with the iconic 25th Infantry Division, nicknamed "Tropic Lightning", at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He obtained the rank of sergeant and he led a squad of infantrymen. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his daughter Nadine Chavez and sisters Linda Abril and Mary Cordova, brothers Earl Wilcox, Marcos Andrade, Art Andrade, Michael Andrade and David Andrade of Salinas California. He is also survived by his tias Maria Pino of Phoenix and Beatriz Garcia of Stockton California. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who cared for him in his final days. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Angela Andrade and brothers John Angulo, Danny Wilcox, Tommy Wilcox, Andy Andrade and sister Patricia Andrade.
We also want to thank the staff at Maryland Garden Care Center for their compassionate and loving care he received especially, Irene, Nicole and Alma.
Funeral services will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home on Monday, September 16, with viewing at 10 a.m. and funeral service at 11:30 a.m., burial with military honors to follow at 1:30 pm the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Cave Creek Road.
