Joseph Michael Jr Pavelek

Joe was a young 70 years and lived in Black Canyon City, Arizona but lived in Scottsdale, Arizona since 1975 when he moved here from Chicago with his parents. Joe passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Sherman Home hospice of Mayo Clinic Hospital. Joe was born on February 7, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and attended Purdue University. After attending Purdue, Joe spent most of his career working with Dial Soaps as a chemist. Joe also spent a tour in the Army in Anchorage, Alaska as a top notch food inspector. Joe was a sports fanatic. He loved to follow the professional teams in Arizona as well as the Arizona State University Sun Devils. He especially loved the ASU baseball and softball teams because Joe also played softball in his youth and loved the game. Joe and his father also loved model trains as a hobby. They spent many hours together with the model trains. Joe was an only child of Joseph Michael Pavelek, Sr. and Estella Pavelek. Joe was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Scottsdale and he also attended Phoenix First Assembly of God Church in Phoenix, where he spent countless hours helping with the youth fine arts. Joe loved the kids. He also frequented Northridge Community Church in Cave Creek, Arizona. Joe also was an assistant volunteer coach for the Cactus Shadows High School boys golf team for one season. Joe enjoyed going to all the high school football, basketball and baseball games and in most cases had to let the officials know how good or bad of a job they were doing. Joe was definitely a rebel but a very funny rebel and simply a great man. Everyone that had the opportunity to know Joe was blessed. Joe is survived by many cousins and great family friends of the Gloria family and the Wooldridge family. He will be missed tremendously. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00am with a Funeral Service at 10:00am, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
