Phil was a loving husband, a father of nine children. Born November 1, 1929, in Chicago to Phillip Francis Genovese and Therese Virginia Alfano. He had one sister Jeanne. Phil attended St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix, Arizona. He was senior class president and graduated in the class of 1948.
Upon graduation, he married the love of his life, Faeth Ann Cook. He and his bride moved to Chicago, Il and started their family. They missed Phoenix and returned the next year. He then started a career as an electrician in a local union IBEW 640 for many years he worked on homes and businesses in the Valley. His final job as an electrician was the Palo Verde Nuclear Powerplant. He then moved the family to Yavapai county and became a county building inspector. A few years later he was an inspector with a local bank.
Phil and Faeth moved back to Phoenix. There he volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul for 20 years, where he did many jobs helping the community. He was a devout Catholic with unwavering faith.
He enjoyed getting together with former classmates and friends, an avid reader and Arizona sports fan.
He is survived by his children Patricia Fields, Judith Pierce (Greg), Janice Westfall (Terry), Phillip (Laurie), Jeri Hinton, Anthony (Michele), Jean Rees, Joanne Rossi and Richard and ex-wife Beryl, along with 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home with reception to follow from 3-5 P.M. Phillip will be laid to his final rest at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to St. Vincent DePaul.
