Mildred L. “Mid” Pringle

Mildred L. Pringle passed away January 23, 2016, in Phoenix, AZ attended by loving family. Born October 3, 1920 in Scalp Level (Johnstown), PA to Emma Lehman and William Martin, Mid graduated from Johnstown High School, and then worked at the local bank. She married Edgar D. Pringle in 1943. Mid and Ed moved their young family to Phoenix in 1954, where she continued her career in banking and as a financial adviser. She became one of the first women in Arizona to be a registered stockbroker, and at one time even traded on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange.   Mid was an avid crafter, producing award winning ceramic and porcelain pieces. She next mastered the art of paper tole, sharing good times with her beloved friends “The Cut Ups”. But her lifelong calling was needle craft where she excelled at knitting, crochet, tatting, showcasing her gifts of patience and precision. She truly was an artist. Her custom-fit socks are cherished by many, almost as much as her homemade jams. Mid was preceded in death by Ed, her beloved husband of 57 years; and is survived by her children Amy Gieszl (Jim), and Jay Pringle (Connie); grandchildren Nancy, Katie, Matt, Ben, and Molly; and 4 great-grandchildren. Her family thanks Serenity Hospice for their care and kindness. Services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
