Robert “Bobby” P. Masterjoseph was born on October 5, 1943 to Rocco P. Masterjoseph and Claire B. (Flower) Masterjoseph in Yonkers, New York, and raised with his brothers Liebert “Chip” and Joseph. Remaining are his loving wife Lugena (Creer), brother Joseph and his wife Margaret (Marino), and nephews, Paul, Peter, and Mark A. Masterjoseph and many cousins, and friends. Bobby's charismatic personality was his hallmark and was enjoyed by all.

Bobby graduated lona University and after working in the family business Booby joined the United States Army Green Berets serving with the 5™ SFG SOG CCN in Vietnam. While on a clandestine mission behind enemy lines, Sergeant Masterjoseph's team of himself and 8 indigenous members were attacked by forces of the North Vietnam Army which resulted in Sgt. Masterjoseph receiving & bullet wounds. Despite his injuries and refusing morphine, Sgt. Masterjoseph captured a NVA Battalion Commander and successfully led his team to a helicopter extraction location and to safety. Sgt Masterjoseph received a Silver Star Medal, a Bronz Star Medal (for valor), and a Purple Heart medal. Among his many other medals and awards was his coveted Combat Infantry Medal and a Parachuter Badge.

After years of hospitalization and recuperative therapy, he was retired disabled from active service. He moved to the "north country" of Saranac, NY, to an area in which he spent much of his youth at "the family farm." During his years in Saranac, he graduated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Master's degree and successfully ventured into various businesses with his brother Joseph.

In recent years, he resided in Phoenix, AZ, and, as a result of his war time injuries, he spent many years in area hospitals being cared and attended to by his loving wife, Lugena.

Sergeant Robert P. Masterjoseph passed away December 6, 2023 at 80 years old at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, a visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 1-3:00pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Bobby will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com.
