Selma “Sally” Romley

It is with deep sadness we announce Selma “Sally” Romley gently passed away on November 29, 2022. Sally was born July 7, 1925 to Richard M. and Edna Elias in Ray/Senora, Arizona. She spoke Spanish and Arabic before she was fluent in English. She attended elementary school at Emerson Elementary, graduated from North Phoenix High School and married William “Bill” Romley Sr. at Trinity Cathedral on January 20, 1945. Sally lived a long life and was strong in character and commitment to her family. Her infectious kind and giving spirit leave a beautiful legacy for all who were blessed to know her. No one was a stranger for very long. Sally took tremendous pride in her Lebanese heritage and was an active member of the Lebanon Syrian American Club, The Cedars. She had many areas of interest, enjoyed a wide circle of friends, loved to play cards, shop, crochet and entertain. Sally had an inner strength indicative of her generation and was the true matriarch of her family. Sally’s Lebanese cooking accompanied many of her families’ best times and Wednesday’s lunches were the highlight of her children and anyone else who was in the area.

Sally’s legacy lives on through her 4 children: Bill Romley Jr. (Andy), Camille Casteel (Tom), Michelle St. Pierre (Bill), and Cheryl Hamati (Bill) along with 11 grandchildren: Tawni Casteel, Cari Casteel, Bill Romley III (Stacie), Erin Romley, Bill Hamati Jr., Camille Cox (Paul), Michelle Quarles (Rocky), Heather Gallick (Sean), Courtney Romley, Michael Vance, Sally Reussille (Todd), 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and many loving nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her family and so many who had the chance to know her.

We are very grateful and wish to thank her in-home caregivers, Grace and Chary and to the Hospice team who provided the services to aid in her comfort and care. Mom leaves us with the gift of a grand lifetime of warm and loving memories.

We do not cry but celebrate knowing she flies high tonight and lands in the arms of the angels as her parents Richard M. and Edna Elias, husband William Romley Sr., 2 grandsons Michael Casteel and David Romley and 5 brothers Richard, Leo, George, Tom and Joe Elias greet her in heaven. We will see you again Mom, rest easy. Please join us as we celebrate a well lived life.
