Mary Ellen Ruiz

73, of Chandler, AZ passed away on June 24, 2016. She was born in Phoenix, AZ on April 6, 1943 to former Arizona State Representative Tony Abril, Sr. and Nellie (Abril) Torres. Mary Ellen “Helen” attended Phoenix Union High School, was a nurse, retired from Motorola after 20 years and was a member of the American Legion. Mom loved to shop, travel, go to happy hour, the casino and watch her novellas. Most of all, Mom loved her family and was so proud of each of them; husband of 45 years John T. Ruiz; daughters Suzie Flores, Frances Esquer (Adrian), Julie Ruiz and Marissa Thompson (Joe); grandsons Michael, Sonny, Julian, Matthew and Nathan; and sister Pauline Garcia. Funeral services are. Friday, July 1, 2016 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3450 W. Ray Road, Chandler, AZ, with a Rosary at 10:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. There will be a Reception at noon followed by Interment at 3:30 P.M. at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48 Street, Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
