Alfred Philip (Chuck) Savage

Alfred Philip (Chuck) Savage, 94, died peacefully in Phoenix, Arizona on January 1, 2017. He was born in Norwich, Connecticut on February 16, 1922, the son of Anne and Jacob Savage. Following graduation from the Norwich Free Academy, Chuck joined the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant. Chuck was the founder of A.P. Savage Supply Co., a Norwich hardware store, which he operated during his entire working career. The store recently closed after 65 years. Chuck also served as a director for Eastern Federal Bank. His greatest joys included boating and fishing in Long Island Sound with grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Iva and is survived by his son Stephen, and daughter-in-law Lois, of Phoenix, Arizona, daughter Elizabeth, of Washington, D.C., three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
