Lillian Kathryn Setter

95, went to heaven to join her husband Alfred and son David on February 16, 2013.  She fought the

good fight, finished her course, and has now entered into her rest.  Temporarily left behind are son Al, sister Dorothy Schneider, daughters-in-law Charlotte and Evelyn, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her extended family and friends.  Lillian was born in her mother’s home in Buffalo, New York on Easter Sunday 1917.  Her first name was inspired by the Easter Lily.  In 1951 the Setter family, Alfred, Lillian and their two sons David and Al relocated to the dry heat of Phoenix for health reasons.  While looking for work, Lillian was hired by a small-scale investor, who provided the $500 to open Phoenix’s first in-grocery-store bakery on south Central Avenue.  From that humble beginning, twenty-two additional bakeries were built with combined annual revenue of $1M.  Lillian was promoted to Franchise Operator and Manager.  Lillian attributed many of her lifetime blessings to God’s guidance and the miracle working power of prayer.  One of her vivid miracle memories was finding employment during the depression.  She was hired at age 15 ½ and worked 11 hours a day for 8 years to provide food for the family.  Her enduring work ethic carried over into her senior years of life.  She worked through her church in an outreach ministry to the ill and dying, and contributed as a hospital and hospice helper.  And for years, she taught youth Sunday school at her church.  Our Mom will be greatly missed!  No flowers please.
