Carol J. Slavin, 75, of Paradise Valley, passed away on November 30, 2018, after a 9-year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Francis (Buzz) Slavin, of 52 years, daughter Jacquelyn, sons Patrick and Daniel, sisters Elizabeth Ann Shelly and Jacqueline Hurst and grandchildren Grace and Max Slavin.
Carol was born in Toledo, Ohio to Charles and Jane Shelly and graduated from Perrysburg High School. She attended the University of Cincinnati earning a BS in Nursing where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She met her future husband at a college fraternity dance. They were married on June 25, 1966 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg. Carol and Buzz have lived in Arizona since July, 1971 where they raised their 3 children. Carol made you feel that she loved and cared about you. She enjoyed downhill skiing and the many camping trips and time spent exploring the National Forests in the West. She especially enjoyed spending time with her many friends when not attending her children’s school and after school activities.

A Vigil will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with prayers on Friday, December 7th, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at Our Lady of the Angels at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E Lincoln Drive in Paradise Valley. Directly following the Funeral Mass a hosted reception will be held at the Omni Montelucia Resort on the southeast corner of Tatum and Lincoln Drive, 4949 E Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. A Committal Service will take place at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 10, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 23015 N Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
