Raymond A. Soukup, 92, of Phoenix, passed away May 3

, 2014. He was born on September 24, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN. Ray and wife Pat welcomed their two children, Linda and Tim, before relocating to the Valley in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy on a submarine tender during WWII. Ray played baseball for UC Berkeley and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and inducted into the Big C Society for his baseball achievements. He was a Master Plumber. “Papa” was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Pat. Ray’s unique sense of humor, gifted gardening, ability to fix anything, passion for sports and love for his family will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at 10am with a Funeral Service at 11am, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
