Daphne Mary Steer, 81 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on December 8, 2021. She was born in Lahore, Pakistan on June 5, 1940 to her mother Kathleen. There she was born into and attended St. Deny’s Boarding School. The school was operated by Christian English missionaries, who took her mother in when she became pregnant and eventually continued in over seeing Daphne’s care. Due to Daphne’s Christian upbringing, she always stayed faithful to the Lord. Throughout her life she never failed to wear her faith on her sleeve. She showed this through her love for volunteering, donations, reading Christian novels, and by attending Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix. Daphne was very proud of her large collection of Christian books that she kept. Along with her love for her devout faith, she loved her family, animals (especially her mini dachshunds), and traveling. She has been to more countries than most and was especially proud of the missionary work she had the opportunity to do in China twice. Daphne met her one true love, Gary, in 1960 when he was working in Pakistan. When his work contract was over, he returned to the United States with her and they got married in 1962. Daphne and Gary spent almost 50 years of marriage together. The best gift she received from it was her only daughter Stephanie, and only granddaughter Emily whom she loved with her whole heart. She also accepted her son in law Carlos, as her own son. Her friends and family were precious to her, she sent 100 + Christmas cards to them all each year. Her friendships were lifelong and she kept kept her relationships with her boarding school friends her entire life. Daphne was a unique light in this world that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Daphne is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Carlos) Ramirez, and her granddaughter Emily Ramirez.
