Cheryl Reed Cdr Usn (Ret) Stolze

Cheryl R. Stolze, CDR, United States Navy, Retired, 48, of Peoria, AZ passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her family on December 10, 2014, after a brief illness. Cheryl was born in Middletown, Connecticut, the daughter of Laurel D. Reed and Marjorie A. Kilpatrick. She attended East Hampton High School, Old Dominion University, and received her Masters from the University of Missouri. Cheryl thoroughly enjoyed participating in soccer, softball basketball, and music. She enlisted in the United States Navy as a Data Systems Technician in 1985 and received her commission as a Naval Officer in 1992. Cheryl completed 27 years of active service with duty stations in Vallejo, CA, Norfolk, VA, Keflavik, Iceland, Honolulu, HI, Phoenix, AZ, Biloxi, MS, and San Diego, CA. During her distinguished career, she served as Officer-in-Charge of Personnel Support Detachment Keflavik, Iceland, Commanding Officer of the Military Entrance Processing Station, San Diego, and the Commanding Officer of Navy Mobilization Processing Site, San Diego. Cheryl retired from the Navy in 2011. Over the last 10 years, Cheryl and her Husband have been very involved in Shriners International and supporting the Children of Shriners Hospitals for Children. The children and the Shrine Hospitals became her passion. Cheryl served as the First Lady of El Zaribah Shrine, Phoenix in 2013. She is survived by her loving husband Ed Stolze, son Joshua, and daughter Lindsey, all of Peoria, AZ, her Mother Marjorie Kilpatrick of Canon, GA, sister Cynthia Varricchio (Dan) of Portland, CT, Robbin Gautieri (Peter) of Voluntown, CT, Karen Kloo (Lennart) of East Hampton, CT, and Pamela Braun (Clarence) of East Hampton, CT. Cheryl is also survived by eight nephews, five nieces, four great nephews, and eight great nieces, numerous cousins, Aunts and Uncles. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Laurel Reed. A visitation is scheduled from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, in Phoenix.  Funeral Service will take place at 10:30am, Monday, December 15, 2014 at El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium, 552 N. 40th Street, in Phoenix.  A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm, Monday, December 15, 2014 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Shriner’s Hospital For Children, Mexico City at website
