Mary Ann O’Brien Tundag, 75, of Queen Creek, Arizona, peacefully entered into eternal life on December 11, 2021 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with COVID. Mary Ann was born on August 25, 1946, to Mary Adele Edwards and Thomas Joseph O’Brien in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was a loving mother, grandmother, Umma, sister and BOMO. Mary Ann graduated from Battin High School in 1963 and later studied at Harbor Community College. Formerly married to Walter Kutsop, Jr. from 1965 to 1982. She later remarried remarried Gilbert Tundag in 1985. Motorolla, Legal Secretary, Owner of The Chat Room (a country bar), retired from Intel in 2014. Her hobbies were cooking, reading, card games, Scrabble, traveling, drinking and socializing, and telling jokes.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert and her parents, Thomas and Mary O’Brien. She is survived by her first husband Walter Kutsop of New Jersey, her daughters Sharon (David) Tanquary, Julia (Brian) Knapp, 8 grandchildren, Joseph Federico (26), Mackenzie Tanquary (23), Benjamin Knapp (23), Thomas Federico (22), Samantha Tanquary (21), Anthony Federico (20), Sheridan Tanquary (17), Andrew Tanquary (14), and 1 great grandson Henry Federico (11 mos.) all from Chandler, Arizona, her siblings, Tommy O’Brien, Jr., Kenny O’Brien, Bobby O’Brien, Rita Irwin, Gigi Robles, Edna Johnson.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm with a rosary held at 4:30pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3450 W Ray Road, Chandler.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in her memory. Some of Mary Ann’s favorites were Wounded Warriors, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and the Humane Society.
