Florence “Doreen” Waits

Our beloved mother, Florence Doreen Waits, passed away peacefully in her sleep early morning January 13, 2022, at the age of 93. She always said she wanted to make it to 100; she gave it a good try. Doreen was born December 13, 1928 in Stevensville, Montana. She was the last of the seven Brown family brothers and sisters who moved from Montana to the Phoenix area. Doreen is survived by three sons: Gary Armstrong (Diana), James Armstrong and Michael Armstrong (Jodi). The family grew over the years with 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Doreen loved the family and was so proud of each and everyone. She loved to host family BBQs, holiday and Christmas parties. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Ryan-Evans Drug Stores and PCS. After her husband’s construction accident, she was his caregiver until his passing. Doreen was always happy and humming, willing to help or care for family anytime, and she loved dancing at the Elks or VFW (she was a very good dancer). She lived a long full life and is now at a better place with her family and friends. We all love and miss her very much.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 12:00 – 1:00PM, with Funeral Service to begin at 1:00PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix.
