Mary C. Weller

Mary was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY on June 26, 1929, the second of four children. She was devoted to her parents. Her father died in 1943 when Mary was just 14. Her mother passed away 12 years later. She and her eldest brother, John, nursed their dying mother to her final days in 1955. The death of her mother left Mary and her brother John to take care of their younger siblings, Joseph and Joan. She did so with love and care, NEVER thinking of herself, always thinking of others.

Mary held a very responsible job at IBM in New York City. She married John Weller, late in life and was devoted to him.

In the late 1980’s, Mary and John moved to Phoenix, Arizona in hopes of a better life. There, she continued her life of dedication to others. She and John put in over 1,000 hours volunteering at the VA Hospital in Phoenix.

A great day for Mary was when she could be with John and friends dancing. She simply loved to dance. Well, she also loved Pringles and was known to savor her Lifesavers!

Whatever Mary did in life, she did it with love, with never a complaint. Mary was a generous, charitable and deeply religious woman.

She loved children and she loved her niece, Karen.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Doughney. She is survived by her sister, Joan Knecht, brother Joe Doughney, niece Karen Knecht, nephews Alfred, Joseph, Kevin and Brian, great nephews, Daniel, Joseph, Brendan, Colin, Philip and her great nieces Kirstin Michelle, Kasey, Mia, Helini and Gwennie!

All will miss her so much!
