Sharon M. Wheeler

Sharon M. Wheeler of Phoenix passed away February 2nd; she was 68 years old. Sharon was born in the Valley and attended St. Mary’s and Phoenix Union High School before going on to receive her Master’s Degree and complete her post-graduate work at ASU. She was the Associate Director of the Arizona Community College Board for over 25 years, and had over 30 years of service to the State of Arizona. She was an active volunteer in the community with organizations including The Boy Scouts of America, West Central Little League, and the International Order of Job’s Daughters. She was the daughter of Quinn and Josephine Cathcart (twin sister to Donna Van Atta) and is survived by her children Maria and Brannon, granddaughter Madeline, cousin Beverly Wible, brother Carlyle Cathcart, loving nieces and nephews and loyal dog Obie. Visitation will be held from 9-10am with a Funeral Mass at 10am, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Avenue.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of cut flowers the family asks for outdoor flowering plants for a memorial garden.
