Sally O’Malley Whitten-Lara, former CEO of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Greater Phoenix) and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died December 2, 2015. She was born in Phoenix, AZ and dedicated her life to her family, friends and to supporting women in recovery. Preceded in death by father Thomas E. O’Malley, mother Mary Eileen Cairns O’Malley and husband Robert C. Whitten. Survivors include two sons, Chris (Ann) Whitten and Terry (Jen) Whitten, a daughter Carrie (Jeremy) Whitten-Simmons and Eva (Pat) Zavala-Onofrio; eight grandchildren, Sean (Nicole), Alexis (David), Tom, Charlie, Kevin, Nathan, Seamus and Jack; one brother, Tim (Sharon) O’Malley; and 13 nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 6:00pm and Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 4:00pm both at Brophy College Preparatory Chapel, 4701 N. Central Avenue.
